It is known that the sound of running water aids in relaxation and garden fountains can add beauty and serenity to your yard or garden while aiding in your relaxation experience.
When considering a fountain, you want it to last for years to come as well as being a centerpiece for your garden. With so many different varieties of fountains available, it can be difficult to choose the one that is right for your yard.
Many low-end are made of molded plastic and will not last over a period of time due to it's tendency to crack and will be difficult to clean when dirty. Even though these fountains are inexpensive, they are not the best quality.
There are several advantages to mid range garden fountains which are made with a stone and resin mix or of poly resin. They are affordable, durable and are easy to move with many of them weighing between 40-70 pounds. Mid range fountains are also just as visually appealing as their high end counterparts.
High-end stone carved fountains, even though they are very expensive, can be stunning. However, some of these fountains, other than the high price, have the additional down side of requiring extensive maintenance, and they can be very heavy, and difficult to move.
When choosing a fountain for your yard, be sure to choose one that is right for your environment. If you live in an environment that includes drastic changes in weather and temperature, a heavy, stone carved fountain might not be right for you. These fountains are difficult to impossible to move and store for the winter months. The changes in temperature might even cause the fountain to crack and spill if it is left outside.
Another thing to consider when planning on a garden fountain is the water capacity and the pump. While many low-end fountain may not hold much water or have the capacity you are looking for, mid to high end fountains will have those capabilities and have a better appearance in general. For best results such as a visually pleasing stream of water and higher water capacity, choose fountains that pump at 5 gallons per minute.
Consider the location of your fountain when planning one for your yard or garden. Nearby electricity is needed to power the pump; therefore, you may need to choose a mid range fountain that is equipped with a standard 120v connection so you can plug them into a standard outlet. It is also important to consider the space available in the area for your fountain. Not only with this determine the appropriate size of your fountain, but the style of it as well. Such garden styles include a formal lawn, a Japanese garden, European style courtyard and an eclectic cottage garden.
Garden fountains are available online or at your local garden center. Local garden centers only have a limited supply available while there is a wide selection available online.
Garden fountains are attractive and relaxing additions that can add tranquility to just about every yard.
